So
much has already happened this year. We have a new year, a new
president, and a new presidential cabinet. We have learned that we
are not just in an economic downturn, but a catastrophic recession.
Friends, loved ones, and associates are losing their jobs and their
homes. Large companies as well as entrepreneurs are closing their
doors, and there are predictions of many others shutting down in the
near future.
Difficult times? Indeed! And, while many of us know that we are not
what we do in life, it is certainly a blow to our self-esteem when
we lose those roles as either executives in corporate,
entrepreneurs, or loyal employees of many years. We feel as if we
have personally failed, and our head trash begins. "I could have
worked harder on that project; I could have made better decisions,
greater sacrifices. Maybe I should not have been so outspoken in our
company meetings. I am too experienced. I want too much money. I'm
too old, too short, too wide, too thin. I'm not old enough, not
experienced enough," and on and on we go, our healthy self-esteem
eroding.
To recession-proof your healthy self-esteem and keep a healthy
perspective, here is a valuable coaching tool you can begin using
today. Buy yourself a journal and start A/B journaling. Attitude and
Belief journaling is a powerful tool that helps move you forward
instantly, if you do it consistently. Your attitude--those Thoughts
that lead to Feelings create your belief system, your perception,
which in turn leads to your Actions. You will act upon what you
believe, which, in turn, will lead to your personal reality or
Results. T?F?A=R.
Record your thoughts and feelings at the beginning of each day. Act
upon them if they are positive. Here is an example: "I am vibrant
and filled with energy... nothing can stop me today. I will contact
five new potential employers or clients by the end of the day. I
will receive at least one interview. My self-esteem is healthy and
whole. I am valuable and needed."
By writing down your belief, you take it from thought and bring it
into reality. As you move along in your day, your actions are going
to line up with your thoughts and feelings, causing you to act and
speak accordingly, bringing you the desired results. Record your
outcomes at the end of the day.
Reverse your attitude if you start negatively. For example, "I'm
tired today. I don't feel like calling anyone for an interview, and
I'm wasting my time anyway." Record that attitude and belief and
then pivot: "I'm filled with energy today. I feel like making calls
because my future is dependent upon it. I call and I feel great
about calling. All my time is valuable and I accomplish all that I
need to accomplish in the time available to me. I will call at least
four potential employers between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM, and I will
receive at least one interview. I am valuable and I am wanted. My
self-esteem is healthy and whole."
Now, record that attitude and belief statement and watch it come
into manifestation. If you hit a low point during the day, go back
to your positive attitude and belief statements and repeat them
several times. Go for a long walk and meditate or listen to your
favorite music. Inspirational music does just that--it inspires.
And, if all else fails, stop what it is you're trying to accomplish,
the negative energy will not allow you to achieve your goals. Record
your feelings and pivot your thoughts before going to sleep. You'll
wake up in a refreshed frame of mind in the morning.
Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
